Helen Long

Their role at HKJ Commercial
Account Handler, Plymouth

Helen began her insurance career in 2014 with Curtis Marine, specialising as an advisor in Pleasure Craft Insurance. In 2019, she broadened her expertise by moving to Assured Partners, working across Property Owners and Motor Trade insurance, before taking up her current role with Haven KJ Commercial in the Marine Trade Insurance sector. Passionate about supporting others, Helen has also taken on mentoring roles in previous positions.

Her connection to the sea goes back to childhood, when she spent many hours sailing with her uncle, father, and brother—often from Fleetwood Marina to the Isle of Man, and occasionally across to France on a 33-foot yacht. When her uncle retired from sailing and settled into life aboard his yacht in Brighton Marina, Helen hung up her sailing boots too, though her love of the water has never faded.

Originally from Manchester, Helen has gradually made her way down the country and now calls Cornwall home – her favourite place yet, thanks to its stunning coastline and beaches. Outside of work, she enjoys entertaining friends, keeping fit, walking her dog, and embracing new experiences (as long as they don’t involve great heights!). Her next personal goal is to master the surfboard, though whether she’s truly “surfboard material” remains to be seen.
